นายวัฒนา จันทนวรานนท์ รองนายกเมืองพัทยา ประชุมหารือการจัดงานประเพณีวันไหลและงานประเพณีกองข้าวเมืองพัทยา ประจำปี 2554 โดยมีส่วนงานที่เกี่ยวข้อง คณะกรรมการชุมชน ร่วมประชุมหารือเตรียมความพร้อม นายวัฒนา จันทนวรานนท์ กล่าวว่า เมืองพัทยา ได้กำหนดจัดงานประเพณีวันไหลและงานประเพณีกองข้าวเมืองพัทยา ประจำปี 2554 ระหว่างวันที่ 18-20 เมษายน ซึ่งเป็นกิจกรรมหนึ่งที่สืบทอดมาอย่างยาวนาน โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ ส่งเสริมและรักษาขนบธรรมเนียมประเพณีอันดีงามของท้อง ถิ่นตลอดจนเป็นการส่งเสริมการท่องเที่ยวของเมืองพัทยา และถ่ายทอดศิลป วัฒนธรรมสู่สายตาชาวต่างชาติ ในปีนี้แบ่งออกเป็น 4 งานหลัก ได้แก่งานประเพณีวันไหลนาเกลือ ในวันที่ 18 เมษายน บริเวณสวนสาธารณลานโพธิ์ เริ่มตั้งแต่เวลา 07.00 น. มีกิจกรรมที่น่าสนใจและสนุกสนาน อาทิขบวนแห่รถบุปผชาติและขบวนแห่พระพุทธรูป การแสดงศิลปวัฒนธรรมไทยจากนักเรียน, งานประเพณีวันไหลพัทยา ในวันที่ 19 เมษายน บริเวณวัดชัยมงคลพัทยาใต้ ซึ่งในวันนี้จะเป็นวันที่ประชาชน และนักท่องเที่ยวออกมาเล่นน้ำเนื่องในวัน สงกรานต์อย่างสนุกสนาน มีรถขบวนบุปผชาติตกแต่งสวยงามแห่รอบเมืองพัทยาโดยใช้เส้นทางเริ่มต้นที่วัด ชัยมงคลเข้าถนนพัทยาสาย 2 ลงถนนชายหาดพัทยากลาง แห่เรียบถนนชายหาดตามเส้นทางมาถึงพัทยาใต้ก่อนจบที่วัดชัยมงคลอีกครั้ง, งานประเพณีกองข้าวในวันที่ 20 เมษายน บริเวณสวนสาธารณลานโพธิ์และบริเวณวัดหนองใหญ่ ซึ่งเป็นประเพณีเก่าแก่มีเฉพาะจังหวัดชลบุรีเท่านั้น งานประเพณีกองข้าวเมืองพัทยา บริเวณสวนสาธารณลานโพธิ์ จะพบกับความสนุกสนานของกิจกรรมทั้งการแข่งขันยิงหนังสติ๊ก การแข่งขันตะกร้อลอดห่วง การแข่งขันชกมวยทะเล การแข่งขันปีนเสาน้ำมัน และการแข่งขันเกมส์ต่างๆ ที่เรียกเสียงหัวเราะมากกว่าการแข่งขัน
